Shore Fishing at Camp Peškera – Simple Seaside Fun for All Generations
If you're looking for a light and relaxed way to spend time in nature, with the sound of the sea and a golden sunset – shore fishing at Camp Peškera could be ideal for you. There's no need for expensive equipment or special skills – just a rod, line, hook, and a little bread… and the fun can begin!

When is the best time to fish?
The best time for fishing is before sunset. That's when the sea calms down, there are fewer swimmers, and the fish more boldly approach the shore in search of food. That peaceful part of the day, as the sun sinks below the horizon, brings a special charm – and a better chance of a catch!

Do you know why fishing is worse during a full moon?
There's an interesting explanation – in the moonlight, fish can see better! When there's a full moon, it's almost like daytime underwater, so fish can more easily recognize what's bait and what's a trick. That's why the best catches are when the sky is dark and moonless – then they're more likely to "bite" without suspicion.

What can you catch?
The sea near Peškera hides numerous fish that can be easily caught from the shore:

  • Annular Seabream (Špar) – a small, tasty fish, great for beginners
  • Sargo (Fratar) – recognizable by the black stripe behind its head
  • Salema Porgy (Salpa) – loves bread, but isn't the tastiest
  • Painted Comber (Pirka) and Brown Comber (Vrana) – colorful, but most often returned to the sea
  • European Eel (Ugor) – a snake-like nocturnal fish, can surprise with a larger catch

What do you need?
Fishing here doesn't require special skills. All you need is:

  • a light rod (or just a line with a float and hook)
  • smaller hooks (e.g., sizes 6 to 10)
  • bread balls as bait – lightly squeeze wet bread onto the hook

You can fish directly from the rocks or a small beach – the important thing is to be patient and enjoy the moment. Children will be thrilled with every "bite"!

Fun for the whole family
Fishing can be a wonderful activity for parents and children – without cell phones, without rushing. A child can hold the rod, observe the sea, prepare bread balls, and maybe even catch their first fish ever! Regardless of the catch, the moment remains a memory.

Not all fish are for eating
Some fish, although colorful and interesting, are not for eating:

  • Salema Porgy (Salpa) – unpleasant taste, sometimes laxative
  • Painted Comber (Pirka) and Brown Comber (Vrana) – not tasty and are most often released back
  • Too small fish – if they are smaller than your palm, let them grow

If you're not sure – take a photo of the fish and ask a local fisherman or the camp staff. It's always better to return a fish than to risk it.

Fishing – more than just the catch
Whether you catch dinner or not, fishing by Camp Peškera offers moments of peace, connection with the sea and nature, and most importantly – time spent together.

What to bring:
